For 30 years, I worked as lighting director alongside film artists like Jim Jarmusch, Wim Wenders, Lars Von Trier, Larry Clark, Michelangelo Antonioni, and Robby Müller. It was a world I adored that fulfilled my visual sensibility. I was still working with images, but now  in motion- a completely different narrative form than still photography.

 

On my days off, I continued to shoot my own work in whatever city I was in. And on shoots, between film setups I would pick up my Leica and look for the breath around me--a visual diary of my working life. I see them now as informal portraits.
